Mr. Dave Cummings
U.S. House of Representatives
Florida District 18 |
1. When and how did you become a Christian?
Dave Cummings: "Ever since I was a very young
boy, I remember talking to God and wanting to please Him. At the age of 12 I
went to a Christian concert. At the end the person on stage had an altar call to
come forward to receive Jesus as Lord and then next thing I remember I was at
the altar praising God and reciting a prayer to receive Jesus as Lord. I also
had a supernatural experience."
2. How did becoming Christian change you?
Dave Cummings: "I felt I had a calling and
purpose enter my life. I also experienced tremendous animosity from some people
with no real explanation for it. I feel like this is where a lot of new
Christians walk away. However, it caused me to push deeper into my faith because
I understood the trials of those before me."
3. How would you describe your relationship with Jesus
today?
Dave Cummings: "Like any person, I have my
challenges, but I feel that I am closer to God than ever. I also feel a
tremendous calling on my life and I seek Him daily about this."
4. In the past 12 months, how much time have you spent
in prayer with Jesus daily?
Dave Cummings: "At least an hour per day."
5. In the past 12 months, how much Bible reading have
you averaged daily?
Dave Cummings: "Countless hours. I was the
High School Bible teacher at Morningside Academy."
6. In the past 12 months, what percentage of your income
have you returned to God?
Dave Cummings: "20% or more."
7. In the past 12 months, how many non-Christians have
you told why Jesus died?
Dave Cummings: "This year I led 12 students to
Christ."
8. In the past 12 months, how many church services have you attended?
Dave Cummings: "My home church is Grace
Emanuel in Port Saint Lucie FL. I also attend Morningside Church as a teacher there."
9. Which church in which town do you attend most regularly?
Dave Cummings: "Grace
Emanuel Port Saint Lucie FL."
10. Which gift(s) has the Holy Spirit given to you and
what fruit(s) have they borne?
Dave Cummings: "He has given me the gift of preaching and
teaching. I have also experienced other gifts."
11. Do you believe Jesus always has been God?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
12. Do you believe Jesus was born of a virgin?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
13. Do you believe Jesus died on the cross?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
14. Do you believe Jesus rose from the dead?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
15. Do you believe Jesus ascended to heaven?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
16. Do you believe Jesus will return someday?
Dave Cummings: "Yes."
17. By what criterion do you believe people go to
heaven?
Dave Cummings: "By placing faith in Christ’s
death and resurrection to forgive man of their sins and faith that Christ took
the penalty on Himself and He completes His work in our lives through the
sanctification of the Holy Spirit. There is no other way to be saved."
18. By what criterion do you believe people go to hell?
Dave Cummings: "By rejecting the only path to
redemption through Christ’s work on the cross a person is already on that path."
19. How many books of the Bible do you believe to be
inspired by God and without error?
Dave Cummings: "All."
20. The beliefs of which well-known Christian leader
alive today resemble your beliefs?
Dave Cummings: "I honestly adhere to older
preachers like Kenneth E. Hagin."
21. Under what circumstances do you believe abortion should
be permitted?
Dave Cummings: "Only to save the life of the
mother. But even in these circumstances all efforts should be made to save the
child."
22. What is your position on homosexual marriage?
Dave Cummings: "It is not God’s plan for his
creation. God’s plan is one man, one woman, one lifetime."
23. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate for
our healthcare system?
Dave Cummings: "We should return to the old process
BEFORE the “Affordable Care Act” was in place. We had the greatest healthcare
system in the world. We had Medicare and Medicaid for the poor and the elderly;
we had the VA system for our Vets, we only needed to make a few changes such as
not denying pre-existing conditions and perhaps capping certain costs for
services. I advocate for returning to this system."
24. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate
against the opioid crisis?
Dave Cummings: "Stricter enforcement of existing
laws regarding prescriptions and expanding the DEA Diversion Control Group and
supplying more resources to that division of the Drug Enforcement
Administration."
25. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate
against poverty and income inequality?
Dave Cummings: "The greatest tools to combat
these are a growing and expanding economy. As the economy grows, so do jobs. As
the demand for workers grows, companies must compete to attract and retain
workers. Therefore salaries increase. Then when government reduces the tax
burden on the citizens, their money goes further and people spend more, thus
recreating the growing and expanding economy cycle of the free market. When the
market is actually free, businesses compete to offer better products at a lower
price. This happens without government intervention. Adam Smith called this “the
invisible hand.” The only REAL cure to income equality is to have ACTUAL
equality where everyone is rated on the same merits such as education,
experience, and intellect."
26. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate
against illegal immigration?
Dave Cummings: "I ascribe to America First
Policies. We must enforce our immigration laws and we cannot let those who have
discarded our laws go to the front of the line while those who have waited for
10 years through the legal process get pushed to the back. We have a process and
it MUST be followed. We should also be sure we have enough jobs for our own
citizens, before we hire outside workers."
27. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate to
protect religious liberties?
Dave Cummings: "I will introduce the American
Heritage Act which finally legalizes the teaching of America’s TRUE heritage
built on faith and God. I will also openly advocate for Judges who follow our
First Amendment and seek to impeach those who do not!"
28. If (re-)elected, what remedies will you advocate
against the internet monopolies Facebook censoring Christian content and Google
demonetizing Christian websites?
Dave Cummings: "I will use the powers of
Congress to equip the Federal Communications Commission to have TEETH to protect
the constitutional rights of religious voices online and over the airwaves. The
1st Amendment seems to only be referenced for speech and free press, yet the 3rd
and most important portion of this amendment (Freedom of Religion) is always
swept under the rug."
29. What other issues are priorities for your
constituents and what remedies will you advocate to address them?
Dave Cummings: "I will defend the 2nd
Amendment of the Constitution and I have a plan to solve the toxic algae crisis
in my district."
30. What else would you like to share?
Dave Cummings: "I would like to consider a few
Constitutional amendments such as defining marriage as a man and woman, and
expanding the First Amendment definition to no longer prohibit religion in
schools, governments, and public arenas. Again, speech and press are not limited
in this way. Why should religion be?
"Before God, I affirm my answers above to be entirely true and without exaggeration."
