Pastor Dale Glading
U.S. House of Representatives
New Jersey District 01 |
1. When and how did you become Christian?
Dale Glading: "I was raised in a loving and stable family
environment where personal responsibility and good morals were taught and
practiced. However, it wasn't until I was 17 years old and a senior in high
school that my older brother shared the gospel with me and I accepted Jesus
Christ as my personal Lord and Savior."
2. How did becoming Christian change you?
Dale Glading: "I grew slowly during my college years, but it took
a rough period in my life after graduation for God to really get my attention.
In April 1982, I finally placed Christ on the throne of every area of my life."
3. How would you describe your relationship with Jesus
today?
Dale Glading: "He is my Savior, my Lord, my best friend and my
closest confidant."
4. In the past 12 months, how many minutes have you
spent in prayer with Jesus daily?
Dale Glading: "Between the above devotional times, 5-10 minutes
per day."
5. In the past 12 months, how many minutes of
Bible-reading have you averaged daily?
Dale Glading: "I read Our Daily Bread at home every morning and
then a second devotional book at work, followed by prayer. I also try to read a
chapter of the Bible at night, although I'm not as consistent with that as I
should be."
6. In the past 12 months, what percentage of your income
have you returned to God?
Dale Glading: "My wife and I have tithed since we were first
married, so I would estimate about 12%."
7. In the past 12 months, how many non-Christians have
you told why Jesus died?
Dale Glading: "Since my full-time occupation is as a prison
minister, I have the privilege of sharing the gospel with thousands of inmates
every year."
8. In the past 12 months, how many church services have
you attended?
Dale Glading: "As a congregant and guest speaker, probably 75 or
so."
9. Which church do you attend and what is its website
address?
Dale Glading: "My family and I currently attend Grace Bible Church
in Barrington, NJ. Before we moved to Barrington last May, we were active
members of Moorestown Bible Church for 22 years."
10. What has been your greatest failure as a Christian?
Dale Glading: "Not sharing the gospel as often as I should and not
living up to God's commandments, especially His teaching to love others as
myself."
11. What is the greatest challenge you face today as a
Christian?
Dale Glading: "Living for Christ in an ever-darkening world,
trying to make a difference for Him until He returns."
12. Which gift(s) has the Holy Spirit given to you, and
what fruits has it borne?
Dale Glading: "Administration, preaching/teaching/evangelism,
giving and encouragement. These gifts have allowed me to serve as Executive
Director of a very successful prison ministry for the past 21 years, and to also
serve in my local church as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. They have also
helped me to be a better husband and father, although I still fall short in both
of these areas."
13. Do you believe Jesus is God or the Son of God?
Dale Glading: "Absolutely."
14. Do you believe Jesus was born to a virgin, died and rose from the dead?
Dale Glading: "Absolutely."
15. Do you believe Jesus ascended to God the Father and will return riding on clouds?
Dale Glading: "Absolutely."
16. Do you believe heaven and hell are places that really exist?
Dale Glading: "Absolutely."
17. By what criteria do you believe people go to heaven or hell?
Dale Glading: "Their acceptance or rejection of Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior. Ephesians 2:8-9."
18. How many of which book(s) do you believe to be
inspired by God & without error?
Dale Glading: "All 66 canonical books."
19. The beliefs of which well-known Christian leader
alive today resemble your beliefs?
Dale Glading: "Billy and Franklin Graham, Charles
Stanley, Chuck Colson, Chuck Swindoll, and James Dobson to name a few."
20. Which well-known Christian leader who lived in the
past 1900 years do you admire and why?
Dale Glading: "D.L. Moody, Billy Sunday and Jerry
Falwell. None of them were perfect, but they were sold out to God and made a
difference in their generation."
21. Under what circumstances, if any, do you believe abortion should
be permitted?
Dale Glading: "Although I am strongly pro-life and believe that
life begins at conception, I favor allowances in the case of rape, incest or the
mother's life (not health) being in danger."
22. What is your position on same sex marriage?
Dale Glading: "I support a constitutional amendment defining
marriage as the union of one man and one woman."
23. What is your position on prayers and Bible studies
in schools, and why?
Dale Glading: "Voluntary school prayer and Bible studies should be
allowed. The First Amendment guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM
religion."
24. If (re-)elected, what will you seek to do about
(Internet) pornography and the violence in the media, and how?
Dale Glading: "The First Amendment does not guarantee the right to
violate public decency laws. In particular, internet sites featuring child
pornography should be shut down immediately and their hosts prosecuted."
25. If (re-)elected, what will you seek to do about our
health care system, and how?
Dale Glading: "Ideally, all Americans should enjoy adequate and
comprehensive health insurance. However, it is not a constitutionally guaranteed
right. Therefore, I advocate a lower corporate tax rate for companies that
provide comprehensive health insurance for their employees. My plan allows the
private sector to do what it does best and prevents the federal government from
mandating and administering such coverage, which would only add to our
burgeoning bureaucracy."
26. If (re-)elected, what will you seek to do about
poverty and corporate greed & how?
Dale Glading: "I would push for reduced government waste and pork
barrel spending, thereby enabling us to further reduce the tax burden for
individual citizens. By allowing taxpayers to keep more of their own money and
offering greater deductions for charitable giving, poverty would be reduced at a
much faster rate than via poorly administered government programs. As for
corporate greed, I believe in the free market system and capitalism in general.
However, I think we need to address both windfall profits and excessive
compensation packages."
27. If (re-)elected, what will you seek to achieve in
Iraq and Afghanistan, and how?
Dale Glading: "Stabilization of both countries, the removal of
terrorist threats and the fostering of pro-American governments. Finally, and
most importantly, bringing our troops home as soon as feasible."
28. If (re-)elected, what will you seek to achieve in
Iran and North Korea, and how?
Dale Glading: "The discontinuation of their nuclear weapon
programs through international diplomacy and increased economic sanctions."
29. What other issue is a key priority for your
constituents and how will you resolve it?
Dale Glading: "I am running on a platform of real reform, lower
taxes and family values."
30. What qualifies you as the best person to represent
your constituents?
Dale Glading: "As a lifelong resident of South Jersey who is
raising three children (two in college and one in Christian high school), I know
my constituents, share their interests and face the same challenges. I also have
a 22-year record of community service.
"Before God, I affirm my answers above to be entirely true and without exaggeration."
