Pastor Alex Bryant
U.S. House of Representatives
Missouri District 7
1. When and how did you become a Christian?
Alex Bryant:"I have been a Christian since I
was about 8 years old. My mom made sure I attended Sunday school and it was
there that Mother Coleman introduced me to Jesus. Every Sunday she would tell me
that she loved me, and God loved me, and that He had a plan for my life. I
believed her and accepted Jesus into my heart."
2. How did becoming a Christian change you?
Alex Bryant:"Being a Christian has given me a
higher purpose to live for. Knowing that I represent Jesus has caused me to
always be aware of what I do and how I’m representing Him. I strive to be
Christ-like in everything I do. As well, by living according to the principles of
obedience to God’s Word, I’ve lived a blessed life. I believe that obedience
brings blessings, according to Deuteronomy 30. I strive to live an obedient life
and that shapes who I am."
3. How would you describe your relationship with
Jesus today?
Alex Bryant: "My relationship with Jesus is
alive and well, and I walk with Jesus and fellowship with Him daily."
4. Which church in which city do you attend most often?
Alex Bryant:"My home church is
Thrive Church
in Nixa, MO. My wife and I are traveling missionary evangelists and usually
preach in churches all over the country 30-35 weeks out of the year. Our
children don’t always travel with us and they are actively involved in the youth
ministry at Thrive Church."
5. In the past 12 months, how many church services
have you attended?
Alex Bryant:"We had 39 speaking engagements
last year and if we were not preaching, we were in service somewhere. In
addition, I’m the campus pastor of The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary at
Evangel University, so I usually attend chapel at least once per week there. So,
I have roughly been in 85-90 church services in the past year."
6. In the past 12 months, how much time have you
spent in prayer to God daily?
Alex Bryant: "I spend time in prayer daily
towards the Lord. I strive to spend an hour each day in prayer, Bible reading,
and journaling. I’ve done this pretty consistently in the past decade."
7. In the past 12 months, how much Bible reading
have you averaged daily?
Alex Bryant: "I read the Bible and pray daily.
Each year for the past 10-12 years, I have led a Facebook group dedicated to
leading people in reading through the Bible in a year. I’ve read through the
Bible daily each year and have estimated that I’ve led over 700 people reading
through the Bible in a year as well."
8. Do you believe Jesus always has been both God
and the Son of God?
Alex Bryant: "Absolutely. I believe in God the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."
9. Why did Jesus die on the cross?
Alex Bryant: "Jesus died in the cross so that
He could offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice, without blemish. He did this so
that He could take away the sins of the world."
10. Do you believe Jesus rose from the dead?
Alex Bryant:"Absolutely. Jesus rose from the
dead on the third day, conquering death, grave, and sin."
11. Do you believe Jesus ascended to heaven and
will return someday?
Alex Bryant: "Yes. Jesus told us that He would
do this in John 16. Then after He rose from the dead and walked the earth,
appearing to His disciples for 40 days, He ascended. And He promises He would
return one day according to John 14."
12. By what criterion do you believe people go to
heaven?
Alex Bryant:"Jesus said, 'I’m the way the truth
and the life, no man comes to the Father but through Me.' (John 14:6) When we
believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, we will be
saved. (Romans 10:9-10)"
13. In the past year, how many non-Christians have
you told why Jesus died?
Alex Bryant: "I’ve preached sermons to many non-Christians and have seen a couple
of hundred people respond for salvation, and I’ve
led them in the sinner's prayer. I’ve also had a few individual conversations
outside of the church context in which I’ve shared my faith."
14. Which gift(s) has the Holy Spirit given you,
and what fruit(s) has it borne?
Alex Bryant: "I’ve been given the gift of
evangelism and have seen many people come to Christ as a result of me preaching
the Word of God. I’ve been an ordained minister in good standing with the
Assemblies of God since 2004."
15. What do you pray to God for/about our nation?
Alex Bryant:"I pray that our nation humbles
itself and cries out to the Lord so that He will hear our prayers and heal
our land. Specifically, I pray that God blesses our leaders to continue to honor
God and make just laws. I pray that God blesses us and allows us to continue to
do good in His name. I pray for our military and those who have volunteered to
serve. I pray that our nation repents of its sinful ways and stops aborting babies
whose blood is crying out to be avenged."
16. How do you define "marriage"?
Alex Bryant:"Marriage is the sacred and blessed
covenant between one man and one woman."
17. Under what circumstances do you believe
abortion should be allowed?
Alex Bryant:"I believe that God is the giver
of life and no child is an accident or mistake. I am against killing babies
under any circumstance!!!"
18. What remedies do you advocate against illegal
immigration?
Alex Bryant: "We need to implement President
Trump's plan. Build the wall to close our border. Remain in Mexico while waiting
for asylum case. Immediately deport violent offenders. End chain
migration. Have those here illegally pay a fine and get in line or have ICE
track them down and deport them."
19. Where can the rest of your policy positions be read?
20. What would you like to say to the Christian voters
in Missouri's 7th Congressional District?
Alex Bryant: "Although I’ve never run for
political office, I feel called by God to step up and speak out for our
Christian values. I would be honored to be the Congressman chosen to go to
Washington and speak up for our conservative Christian values. I recognize that
the culture war is here, and I will boldly speak out against the radical left
agenda. I’ll speak boldly, clearly, and faithfully - all the while focusing on
spreading love and unity and reconciliation.
"Before God, I affirm my answers above to be entirely true and without exaggeration."
